On Tuesday, 15^th October, our Year 7 students went on a trip to Paignton Zoo as an introduction to the Careers Curriculum they will be accessing throughout their time at Coombe Dean.  

Throughout the day, students learned about and discussed many different roles needed in order to ensure the zoo is able to operate, including Zoo Keepers, Finance Managers, Veterinarians, Carpenters, Tree Surgeons, Caterers and Retail Managers.  Students took part in a workshop providing them information about how they can work towards gaining a career, thinking about how new careers will be available in the future as technology changes and understanding that the path towards any career may take many twists and turns.

The topic of Careers was brought to life through students being encouraged to look at the zoo environment in different ways with the extra excitement of having the opportunity to see lots of animals during the day.  Year 7 enjoyed their day and they came home with lots to talk about!
