Chloe Sawbridge Class of 2019

Chloe is embarking on a PhD in Romantic Literature in Kent this year - so she will soon be Doctor Sawbridge! Here is the message she sent this term (June 2024) to her A-level English teacher.

I don’t know if you’ll remember me or not, but it’s Chloe Sawbridge. I’m a former student at Coombe Dean, and was in your English class for who knows how many years. I know this is going to seem super weird reaching out to you out of the blue like this, but I just wanted to thank you. 

You made a massive impact on my life. From supporting me as a student as a whole, to igniting a passion for literature within my heart. I wouldn’t be in the place I am now without your classes. So thank you, truly. 

Little update: I got a first in my English degree at Kent, went on to do a MA in Eighteenth Century Studies at York, and about to start my PhD in English. She’s going to be a Dr! Exciting times! I’ve been able to give lectures, publish research, and make a life for myself within the subject. I honestly couldn’t have done it without your encouragement to pursue English in the first place, so thank you. Your hard work really paid off.
