Year 10 History Trip – Hitler on Trial at Barnfield Theatre

Y10 students went to Exeter to watch Hitler on Trial.

This week, our Year 10 history students had the fantastic opportunity to visit the Barnfield Theatre in Exeter to watch Hitler on Trial, an engaging and thought-provoking production that brought history to life.

The performance presented an alternative historical scenario: what if Adolf Hitler had been put on trial for his actions? Through a dramatic courtroom setting, students witnessed key figures present evidence, debate crucial events, and challenge Hitler’s ideology. The play encouraged students to think critically about historical accountability, the rise of dictatorship, and the moral dilemmas faced during World War II.

This immersive experience was a fantastic way to support our GCSE history curriculum, deepening students’ understanding of Nazi Germany while also enhancing their analytical and debating skills. Many students commented on how the performance made complex historical issues more tangible and engaging.

A big thank you to the staff who organised the trip and to our students for their excellent behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the day. We look forward to more enriching experiences like this in the future!
