Coombe Dean School

Music composed by our students was performed at the BSO Set Works Concert

Coombe Dean students were invited to compose a short piece of music for the BSO Set Works Concert. The piece was performed and analysed during the concert.

On Monday, Music exam students from Years 10, 12 and 13 attended the BSO Set Works Concert performed by a select Chamber Ensemble from the BSO led by the amazing Patrick Bailey. As well as performing a selection of music through the ages from Vivaldi to Beethoven and Steve Reich, Patrick delivered fascinating musical analysis of the pieces for the students.

Prior to the concert, Coombe Dean students were invited to compose a short piece of music for Patrick to arrange for string quintet, clarinet and piano. The piece was performed and analysed during the second half of the concert. Patrick's arrangement was superb. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for our young composers (Lila H, Madeleine G and Nathan L) and we were all brimming with pride.
