This year was the 20th Anniversary of our Music Awards celebration.
Last term, we were thrilled to host our annual two-evening Music Awards celebration— an inspiring showcase of the incredible talent, dedication, and musical spirit of students from Year 7 through to Year 13. These special evenings recognise not only musical excellence but also the commitment shown by so many to our rich extra- curricular music programme.
Students were awarded certificates for their achievements, and each Key Stage saw the presentation of the coveted Musician of the Year trophies:
- Years 7/8 Musician of the Year – Jacob G
- Year 9 Musician of the Year – Libby W
- Key Stage 4 Musician of the Year – Ana P
- Key Stage 5 Musician of the Year – Nathan L
Other special honours included:
- Composition of the Year – Lila H
- Coombe Dean Musician of the Year – Nathan L
- Outstanding Contribution to Music and Long Service Award – Madeleine G
The event featured captivating performances from across our ensembles, including the Senior Vocal Group, Junior Choir, Junior Band, Soul Band, Folk Band, Chamber Orchestra, String Group, Senior Band, Post 16 Band, and Jazz Collective, along with a number of impressive soloists.
This year also marked a particularly meaningful milestone—the 20th anniversary of the Coombe Dean Music Awards, first launched in Mr Kay’s inaugural year at the school. Since then, the event has run every year, becoming a cherished tradition in our school community. To celebrate, former students from as far back as 19 years ago returned to perform and reflect on their musical journeys. In addition, more than 20 alumni sent in video messages expressing the lasting impact that Coombe Dean’s music programme has had on their lives.
It was a truly uplifting celebration of music, legacy, and the lasting bonds formed through a shared love of performance. We are incredibly proud of all our students and grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s event such a memorable one.
