Coombe Dean School

GCSE Results Day

Congratulations Coombe Dean Class of 2024 on your GCSE Results!

At Coombe Dean School, we are extremely proud of our Year 11 students and have been celebrating a strong set of achievements with them this morning. Students have worked incredibly hard across the past 5 years and their results are testament to the focus, resilience, and determination they have shown throughout.

We opened our doors bright and early to welcome our students and their families to celebrate their fantastic results. There was a real sense of community in the room as our students came together to support and congratulate one another.

Headteacher Kevin Dyke said: “We understand the nerves our young people experience as they build up to collecting their results. We are over the moon that a combination of the hard work of students and the dedication of staff has secured outcomes that enable choice and a range of positive next steps.”

Thank you also to all our staff, parents and carers who have offered continuous support and guidance to our students to help them to achieve these excellent results. We know there are a huge number of people behind the scenes in our school and wider community with whom we share this success.

Whilst we are proud of all our students’ achievements, there have been some notable individual successes for students who have worked tirelessly in securing some of the highest grades possible across a number of subjects:

Head of Post-16, Emma Osborn, was delighted to confirm places at the school’s 6th Form following a wide range of successes and Jane Cooper, the school’s transition lead and careers mentor, was on hand to offer advice and guidance to students with any questions they had about next steps having opened their results.

Last week, we similarly celebrated the success of our Year 13 cohort. Emma Osborn commented, " There were smiles and hugs all round then too as students collected their results and received confirmation of university places all over the country from Bangor to Newcastle to Oxford, more locally from Exeter and Plymouth and down to Falmouth. Other students celebrated confirmation of apprenticeships at Babcock, Derriford and South West Water amongst others. We are so very proud of our students, some of whom have faced real challenges along the way and all of whom have approached their exams with calm, confidence and kindness to each other. Coombe Dean Post 16 is a special part of the Coombe Dean community and it was a real pleasure to see so many of our students, staff and parents in school collecting results and supporting each other.

We wish all our students the very best of luck for all their future adventures- those moving on and those joining us for post 16."
