Taunton Cricket Trip

Hampshire moved to within two points of Somerset following a thrilling victory in this South Group Vitality Blast clash at the Cooper Associates County Ground.

It was another classic T20 encounter between these two sides, with over 400 runs scored on a mild and muggy evening in Taunton.

Somerset looked set to chase down 209 thanks to half centuries from Tom Banton and Rilee Rossouw, but James Vince made a sparking 129 not out, off 62 balls, with 10 sixes and nine fours. The result left Somerset still second in the South Group table, while Hampshire moved into the top four. Vince’s assault bettered the unbeaten 124 made for Hampshire by Michael Lumb in a T20 game against Essex at Southampton back in 2009.

The 22 students in attendance were superb ambassadors of our school community and made the trip a pleasurable experience for the teachers involved.

Thanks to Mr J Grenney, Mr A Temme and Mr K Pacsoe for helping to facilitate the trip and many apologies to the parents for the later than expected return.

Here's to plenty more opportunities in the coming year!
